Eleven Arches 18 hole golf course is ideal for all seasons. It's fairways and greens are kept in excellent condition and though the golf is challenging there are no moutains to climb. The scenery and wildlife around Eleven Arches is simple beautiful. The River Wear snakes around three sides of the course over a disctance of a mile and a half, and from the fairways there are no better views of the Bishop's Palace and surrounding land.

The scenic countryside provides a tranquil golfing experience, belying the close proximity of the town centre of Bishop Auckland. At around 6000 yards the course is not long but is challenging with water featuring on 12 holes. The River comes into play on six holes, affecting a total of ten shots, while four lakes feasutre in seven holes, affecting 12 shots if played to par. Bunkers are use sparingly, 18 in total.
A largely level site Eleven Arches provides easy walking for golfers of all ages and physical abilities. The environment is dedicated to enhancing and protecting wildlife.
Overlooking the course is the Newton Cap Viaduct, it's impressive eleven arches giving the course it's name. The viaduct was originally built in 1857 to carry the Bishop Auckland to Durham City railway line across the River Wear and the Newton Cap Bank that leads down to the river.

Facilties on the site include Driving Range, picnic area, fishing lake and Fishing Lodge. Eleven Arches welcomes golf societies and offers special group bookings.
